The FloodBreak® barrier is designed around the physics of hydrostatic pressure which enables it to float. When flood water rises and approaches the barrier, the flood gate floats and lifts upwards.
The higher the water rises, the higher the gate rises in front of it. The hydrostatic pressure of the backed-up flood water raises the barriers and activates the self-sealing rubber flange. The barrier is held in place by the pressure of the water. As the flood water recedes, the floodgate returns to its resting position.
