TELEMETRY

Flood warning Telemetry systems

A Telemetry system can be fitted at any property and can be configured to advise facility managers or householders of an imminent flood alert so that where reactive flood defence products need to be deployed, there is time to do so. It can also be configured to let clients know when an automatically activated passive system has deployed, giving peace of mind wherever you are in the world, that your assets are protected.

The principle

Working in conjunction with Hydro-Logic, we have integrated their telemetry solution into our SCFB® deployment mechanism. As soon as a barrier begins to deploy in a flood situation, the system will deliver an instantaneous message by text or email to the customer or key personnel, informing them that their barrier has activated.

The benefits

The system provides exceptional added value in offering peace of mind and is an important element in improving awareness of flood activity so that wherever a client is around the globe, they can be part of this latest innovation in flood monitoring and early warning.

How it works

The logger technology embedded in the system regularly monitors level conditions and updates collected data at agreed intervals. When barriers are not in use, updates are provided as daily
status report. As water levels rise during flood conditions and barriers also
rise, levels are updated to the TimeView Management system every
15 minutes and this continues until the levels drop.

The Frog Telemetry technology consists of a Logger unit, GPRS modem, integral antenna or external antenna is used in areas of weak coverage.

The unit is powered by a low voltage Lithium battery pack which provides long term operational use with no external charging requirement.

The TimeView management system from Hydro-Logic provides secure
web-based access to detailed graphs showing levels, and text or email alerts are
provided if required, to key personnel. TimeView also incorporates a mapping system which shows all sites with colour coding to indicate flood and barrier status.
